How you know you invited the wrong girl to your bachelorette party:
A. She plans on bringing her baby.
B. She has no fashion sense and relies on Facebook to advise her on her party attire.
C. She has to borrow her purse from her 2 year old daughter and then has NO idea what to pack in the purse. (She decided on a hair pick and lip gloss but could not find lip gloss so at the last minute threw in some fruit snacks for good measure.)
D. She discovers spit up on her black cardigan while at the party:)
E. She makes it blatantly obvious that she has no life by blathering on about her kids (and blogs...) during the party!
F. She NEVER drinks alcohol and makes it clear she shouldn't have been served any. (Sorry)
G. She suggests garage sales and the candy store as appropriate bachelorette party activities.
H. By the end of the party she wishes she had brought the baby (...or her pump).
I. She has toy money but no real cash. Oops.
Yep, I was that girl! But thankfully I have the best friends who love and accept me and all my fuddy duddy mom ways:)
It turned out to be a very memorable night. Let's just call it my last hurrah of my 20s! Ok honestly I think it was my only hurrah of my 20s. Definitely a night to remember!
All in all I would say it was a fabulous 23 kid-free hours!

Target, again.
Saturday morning at the crack of day I took the kids to Target for a few essential grocery items. I promised that if they were well behaved we would check out the toy section. To "plan" which toys to buy in the future...
And much to my great pleasure (and just a little surprise) they did great! So off to the toy section we trotted. Ok no one was really trotting. Hannah and Charlotte were riding in the cart while Isaiah led the way.
We were in one of those really, really wide aisles in Target. Ya know the ones that run down the center of the store parallel to the front wall?!? Regardless, it was quite spacious.
Isaiah was walking about 10 feet ahead of me with his head down trying to avoid stepping on cracks while at the same time maintaining a quick pace. Toys were waiting to be looked at:) He was also walking down the "wrong" side of the aisle.
A lady was walking towards us. She and Isaiah were clearly going to collide. I called out for Isaiah to stop. He didn't. And she refused to move until the very last second even though she was clearly aware of the impending crash!
And then as she passed me she muttered under her breath "(non G-rated word). Control the children!" Message received.
Immediately all the joy of successfully shopping with my children left. Replaced by anger and embarrassment and frustration. In under 30 seconds I went from feeling proud of my children and enjoying their company to feeling like a floundering, failing parent.
Her words and her delivery of those words were like a punch to the gut. Like having the wind knocked out of me. Tears threatened to well over in my eyes.
I immediately spoke to Isaiah about the importance of listening for mom's voice. He apologized and said he didn't hear me because he was trying really hard to NOT step on the cracks. He didn't want to break my back. His words were sincere.
And yet I was still so frustrated. I sent Joe a text explaining the situation. And initially he commiserated with me over the rude words. He ended our "conversation" by reminding me that we don't know what is going on in her life and maybe, just maybe there is a lot of hurt and pain for her ~ especially in regards to children.
So instead of finding her and chewing her out...which I really wanted to do...I prayed for her. I prayed that God would meet her where she is and heal any wounds she may have.
And then I vowed to never bring the kids to Target again:) We will see how long that lasts...

A Day in Our Life, volume 2 (part 2)
The long awaited part 2 of 'A Day in Our Life'.
See part 1 here.
So where were we? Oh yes, picking Isaiah up from school! Unfortunately it rained even more on our 1.2 mile walk home. And even more unfortunate is the fact that I did NOT get a picture of our soggy selves schlepping home with 4 strollers and 7 hungry wet children. We were quite the sight as we attempted to hurry home pushing strollers and holding multiple umbrellas...
12:20 pm - Attempting to prepare lunch QUICKLY.
12:24 pm - I sent everyone downstairs to play...clearly they were being tortured:)
12:50 pm - Lunch is served! Prayers said.
12:56 pm - The moms get to eat too. The tortellini was a big hit!
1:44 pm - UH OH! Someone didn't make it to the potty chair...
1:45 pm - Isaiah to the rescue! (Not really. I cleaned it up. A mom can dream though.)
1:50 pm - Finally get back to the diapers!
1:55 pm - Pre-nap story time.
2:30 pm - The kids are napping! Instead of resting we decide to re-arrange my furniture...
3:27 pm - Still moving furniture...
4:11 pm - Let the games begin...again!
4:11 pm - Caught playing on my phone...not supervising the baby. YES - that couch is back to exactly where it started! At least the chair moved:)

Even though we have only had one really nice summer-like day, I feel confident making this declaration:
This is going to be the summer of scraped knees! (See below.)
Which I suppose I prefer over the past two summers of head injuries! The girl has finally learned to break her falls with her arms!! Sometimes it is the littlest things that make the biggest difference:)
Looks like I need to stock my stroller and diaper bag with bandaids...
